The official page for SBS’s “Rooftop Prince” has opened, and the official photos of the cast have been revealed. In particular, the affectionate image of Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min has created a lot of anticipation.

Park Yoochun, who will be playing the role of crown prince in the upcoming SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Rooftop Prince” has said that he “will act naturally,” and showed his determination to be different.

“Rooftop Prince” is a fantasy-romance comedy, which talks about a crown prince from the Joseon Era who loses his wife and travels to the 21st century with his consorts, and falls in love.

Following his appearance in period drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and modern day drama “Miss Ripley,” Park Yoochun will be challenging a new genre of drama. He said, “Although the individual comedic portions are quite a burden, but I will try my best to show a natural, comfortable side.”

“Rooftop Prince” is written by Lee Hui Myung, who also wrote some of the hottest dramas such as “Mr. Q” (1998), “tomato” (1999) and “Success Story of a Bright Girl” (2002), raising the anticipation (for this drama). Park Yoochun said, “The script is really meaningful. I read the scripts for all three parts once in the early morning and didn’t feel like going back to sleep anymore.” “The storyline is interesting, but to be able to capture the subtle nuances of the character and build on it is great burden.” He said, “It’s not a character that is destroying his own image, but one that is on the brink of self-destruction, so it seems to be really difficult to interpret. “ “In the first part, I had to bring out the pain of the crown prince losing his wife. At the same time, the image changes as the character travels into the modern times, and I will try my best to show all of this.”

He also expressed his thoughts about the recent buzz around their shooting at Euljiro, saying, “Initially, when I first got off the car I felt really embarrassed. But if I had thought about how it would be if I had really been brought to Myungdong from the Joseon Era, I think my acting would have been even more insane. I feel regretful that it seemed like I had those feeling, but I didn’t.”

Park Yoochun will be acting against Han Ji Min and Lee Tae Sung in this drama. He said, “We didn’t have an official meeting, but went into shooting directly. It was a little awkward at first, but we’re working hard on eliminating this awkwardness.”

Artists from 7 regions, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea will be attending the event.

According to sources, the music festival will be split into two segments, in accordance with the theme of the event, “Integrating Asia’s Music”. The singers attending this major event were all reccommended by local music organisations. The artists competing for the title of “Asia’s Super New Artist” include Song Jingyu from mainland China, Hong Jie from Hong Kong and Anthony Neely from Taiwan. SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama, “Rooftop Prince”, will be broadcast a week later than KBS2 TV’s “The Equator Man” and MBC’s “King 2 Hearts”.

These 3 dramas were originally scheduled to begin broadcasting on the same day, 14 March. However, SBS has planned for a special broadcast of 2 episodes of “Family Picture” after “Please Look After Us, Captain” ends.

An official representative expressed via a phone interview with OSEN on the afternoon of 21 February that, “‘Rooftop Prince’ will be avoiding the first confrontation between the 3 major broadcasting corporations. SBS has prepared for a special drama to be broadcast during the week after ‘Please Look After Us, Captain’ concludes.”

Another representative also stated, “It is planned for ‘Family Picture’ to be broadcast on 14 and 15 March, at the same time-slot as ‘Please Look After Us, Captain”. However, this is still tentative and changes may be made to the broadcast date and time.”

“The Equator Man” will star Uhm Tae Woong and Lee Bo Young, while “King 2 Hearts” will star Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won. The main characters of “Rooftop Prince” are Park Yoochun and Han Jimin.

Three fansites for JYJ's Park Yoochun, Mickyfan.com, Blessing Yoochun, and Park Yoochun's Nanal have come together to donate to Naver's Happy Bean Campaign on behalf of his upcoming drama, "Attic Prince". The fansites collected 13 million Korean won in total (around 13,000 USD) comprised of 5 million in cash and 8 million of food items such as rice.

Donating to charities on behalf of celebrities is a common practice among Korean fans, and has been done by fans of Yoochun in the past. The exact beneficiaries of this donation are not yet confirmed, but it is likely that the money and items will go to senior citizens living alone and study rooms for those with lower incomes.

JYJ‘s Jaejoong has been confirmed to star in the upcoming drama, ‘Time Slip Dr. Jin‘ alongside actor Song Seung Hun. The drama is set back in 1860 during the Joseon dynasty.

Jaejoong’s role will be of an excellent Joseon military official named Kim Kyung Tak. His character has a lot of self-esteem and a very competitive nature. In addition, he is in love with a girl that he has known since childhood and is very genuine in his loyalty to her.

Jaejoong will be the fateful rival to Dr. Jin Hyuk, played by Song Seung Hun, who travels back in time from the 21st century.

The producers stated, “Jajeoong was very successful through ‘Protect the Boss‘ and will make his small screen comeback to show a different appeal that he has hidden with the role of Kim Kyung Tak in ‘Time Slip Dr. Jin’. Fans of JYJ member Park Yoochun have shown their support for Yoochun’s drama “Rooftop Prince” via charitable activities.

Mickyfan.com, Park Yoochun’s Nanal, and Blessing Yoochun came together to form the “Park Yoochun Fan Alliance” and made a donation to the Happybean campaign with their wishes for “Rooftop Prince” to be successful.

Related personnel said that this donation activity collected about 13 Million Won, including 5 Million won in cash as well as 8 Million won worth of rice, instant noodles and other items.

Currently, the exact beneficiary has not been confirmed, but plans have been made to help the elderly who are living alone in the winter, as well as low income classrooms and other people in need.

The fanclubs in the Park Yoochun Fan Alliance expressed that this is not their first donation. In the past year, they have donated 60 million won in cash to multi-cultural families, as well as 3.2 tonnes of rice and 2 million won of books.

The ticket orders for JYJ’s documentary movie The Day crashed server for Lotte Cinema’s website.

On February 20, Lotte Cinema started selling tickets in advance for the movie, which will be released only in Lotte Cinemas. The movie will play in 8 theaters, where JYJ members will also visit to meet their fans.

The website’s server was crashed as soon as the cinema started selling tickets. Lotte Cinema tweeted, “Over 110,000 people rushed to the site and made the server crash. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We will do our best to restore the website.”

The documentary movie, featuring JYJ’s everyday life, was going to air on QTV but the plan got canceled. Then the movie was going to be released in GGV theaters, but CGV finally decided not to release the movie. As a result, the movie will be released in Lotte Cinemas on February 23.

The movie will play in 8 theaters in Seoul, 5 in Gyeonggi, 4 in Gyeongsang, and 1 in each Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces starting on February 23 through 26.

JYJ members will visit 4 theaters in Hongdae on February 23 and 4 theaters near KonKuk University on February 25. The cinema will start selling tickets for the movie without having JYJ members appear on February 20 at 4:oo p.m.

During the intermission of the performance of the musical “Elisabeth” on 15 February, during which Kim Junsu played the role of “Death (Tod)” , the number of female audiences in the washrooms at the Blue Square Musical Hall in Seoul spiked. On this day, (the management) of the theatre opened the male washrooms on the basement floor for use by female audiences. The caretaker turned away male guests who were trying to use that washroom by saying, “It’s only because Kim Junsu is performing today, please understand.”

Since their opening in November 2011, although the theatre has realised that there is a large influx of female guests when local musicals are being performed, and has since increased the number of female washrooms, it is still insufficient on days when Kim Junsu performs. The capacity of the female washrooms in the theatre are already the highest in Korea, with an average of 1 female washroom cubicle for every 25.9 seats. The Charlotte Theatre in Jamshil (only) has one female cubicle for every 33.5 seats.

Such “situations” arise because the tickets for shows in which Kim Junsu performs in are all sold out, and a majority of the audiences are female. Interpark, which provides the online ticketing service, expressed that over 99% of the buyers of tickets for Kim Junsu’s performances of “Elisabeth” are female purchasers. Although female purchasers may bring males along to watch the performance, but this is unseen in the history of Korea’s musical theatres.

The 20 shows of “Elisabeth” in which Kim Junsu will be appearing, with a total of 31,960 tickets, all sold out within 10 minutes. The tickets for his shows are also the only ones which are being resold by ticket scalpers. According to reports, prices in Japan have been marked up from the original 150,000 won to 100,000 yen (approximately 1,440,000 won). The theatre rents out approximately 100 opera glasses (binoculars used for watching performances or shows), but there are plans to purchase more in preparation for Kim Junsu’s performances.

Total revenues were a record high of 24.47 billion yen.

A total of 10 singles and albums from artists such as Tohoshinki, Big Bang, Shoujo Jidai, KARA, Jang Geunsuk, T-ara and 2NE1 won first place in the weekly (Oricon chart) rankings, 5 more than the original record in 2008, since the album rankings began being released in 1970.

“Rooftop Prince” is about the crown prince of the chosun dynasty who loses his beloved princess then travels with his consorts 300 years into the future to the modern day to continue his unfinished romance, a fantasy-romantic comedy. It features Park Yoochun, Han Ji Min, Jung Yoo Mi and others.

In this drama, the scriptwriter said that reason why the main character was planned to be a crown prince was that “Disregarding reality, but from a drama point of view, relationships that transcend the differences between a man and a woman are the ones that receive the best response from the audience. This is why you often see young CEOs with a chairman for a father, or a manager. So I thought, what would be of an even higher status than a CEO or someone with a chairman for a father, and I felt that using a king or crown prince would be possible.”

Aside from the characters, when talking about why he chose to use time travel as the setting, he said, “If a flower boy from the Chosun dynasty appeared in modern day Seoul, how would he be treated. Unlike the modern days, his character and manner would be more traditional, and if the guy who had come was not a handsome man, how would it be….it seemed to be really interesting to imagine these scenarios. “

With regards to Kim Min Jong and Song Yun Ah, who starred in “Mr. Q”, and Jang Nara, who starred in “Success Story of a Bright Girl” and became immensely popular, he said, “I never once thought that these actors became successful because of me. Instead, it is all thanks to their star factor and acting skills, as well as exceptional direction, that allowed my scripts to be a success.”

Talking about Park Yoochun, who plays the crown prince and lead for the drama, he said, “As an actor, Park Yoochun has always been using a gentle image to define his role as an actor. As the Crown Prince Lee Gak, he has to be a character with exceptional charisma, and I think that Park Yoochun has that potential, and I am looking forward to it.
