TVXQ, Girls' Generation and KARA have decided to participate in Japan's largest song festival -- NHK's "Red and White Song Battle (Kohaku Uta Gassen)" -- at the end of the year, sparking concerns from Korean fans regarding their attendance at local music festivals.

The "Red and White Song Battle" is held every year on December 31st, and is widely considered as Japan's largest event. This time some of the largest names in the Hallyu wave have been included in the list of performers, namely TVXQ, Girls' Generation and KARA.

Attending the festival in Japan however, means that they would be unable to perform at their counterparts -- and therein lies the problem. MBC's end of year music festival is likewise held every year on December 31st, and will be broadcasted simultaneously alongside the "Red and White Song Battle."

Furthermore, Korean broadcasting stations have stated in the past that they would not be very kind towards singers who choose to skip local year-end concerts in favour of Japanese ones. Essentially their decision to attend the Japanese festival could create a somewhat offensive atmosphere.

However, word is floating around that attitudes are slightly different this year. Local broadcasting stations are looking at the bigger picture of pushing a new Hallyu wave and are thus more accepting of the singers' decisions to forgo local festivals.

One such staff member stated, "Regarding the singers who are attending 'Red and White Song Battle,' we plan to pre-record their segments or do a live broadcast [from Japan]."

A representative from another station commented, "We're looking at this positively, since it's all to the aim of creating a new Hallyu wave. We're all working towards making it bigger and better."

TVXQ, Girls' Generation, and KARA have all been confirmed by MBC in a recent lineup announcement to appear on the December 31st Korean Music Festival.

Trax’s Jungmo, “My Stage Name Could Have Been “Xylitol” Or “Xylophone”

Trax’s Jungmo, who appeared on the December 13th episode of SBS “Strong Heart”, revealed an interesting incident which happened before Trax’s debut. Jungmo explained, “During the initial stages of Trax, Mr Lee Soo Man said “Let’s decide on a name” and then he proposed a variety of names. Initially, the name “Rose” was chosen, but Mr Lee Soo Man felt that it was not suitable for me and asked me to think of names staring with X.”

Jungmo could not help feeling helpless about it because there were not many words which began with X. Although he combed through the dictionary and felt troubled throughout the night, he could only come up with weird words like ”Xylitol”, “Xylophone”, “X-ray”.

Mr Lee Soo Man then suggested the name “Christmas” to Jungmo, who was very troubled. Although the spelling was correct because it would be “X-Mas” in English, a name like “Christmas” was difficult for him to accept.

Jay revealed, “I could never forget Jungmo-hyung’s expression. He really hated it. U-Know Yunho was complaining that his team’s name has been confirmed as “Dong Bang Shin Ki”, but when he heard Jungmo-hyung’s stage name, he immediately conceded and said that he was satisfied with a name like “Dong Bang Shin Ki”.”

In a recent interview with Japan’s Oricon, BoA was asked about the K-Pop boom and she replied, “I think of it not as rooting for my juniors from the same entertainment company, but of it as the same professionals in the same field who are waging a battle. Against that significance, aren’t we effectively rivals to one another?”

Another question was simultaneously asked regarding any advice she would give to her juniors as a pioneer paving the way for overseas advancement. BoA humbly said, “I’m not in a position to talk about this like I’ve made it good. It’ll be great if we could all understand music and expressing it well, and also treasure music carefully in a sincere manner.”

It's been a long time since I recommended a book, recently among the books I've read, a book that allowed me to think about various things

Title of the book JJ recommended is "It's a good thing if you're lonely now." -- The blurb on the side reads 'If I meet the world that has only me, I can go even further. To places I've never even been able to imagine before.' (cr: allrisexiahtic)

JYJ‘s Yoochun has become the new blue chip of the advertising industry, thanks to the number of deals he’s landed this year.

In 2011 alone, Yoochun was the endorsement model for Tio, Nintendo Wii, Black Smith, and Ottogi Ramen. This list only points out his solo works, as he’s also scored endorsements with NII, Penzal-Q, LG Optimus Q2, and other brands with JYJ.

Representatives of C-JeS Entertainment revealed, “He receives at least one or two CF offers a day. We believe it’s because it’s harder to see him in dramas or performances, so his scarcity makes his value go up.”

According to the label, Yoochun’s smooth, warm image does wonders in bolstering a brand’s image, which helps them advance their sales.

Yoochun is currently on break to work on JYJ’s upcoming album, and is also reviewing potential drama offers.

Korean movie “Papa” is about Chunseob (Park Yong Woo), a manager who goes to America in search of a junior manager who ran away with a singer. He then finds himself in an unexpected contract marriage which results in the birth of six children.

Go Ara plays the role of Chunseob eldest daugher, Jun, who posesses good singing ability, and becomes a star in the US. Ara said, “For about 2 months prior to filming, I practiced dance, the guitar and singing,” and “(prior to debut) I had trained with 2 members of Girls’ Generation, so that experience was useful in the filming of the movie.”

Labelmates BoA and Yunho of TVXQ from SM Entertainment, gave her dance and acting advice. “BoA came to the filming site to teach me English. Also, ‘masculine’ dancing was required in the film, so it was not easy to do. I met Yunho in the office once or twice, and he helped to check my dance, telling me ‘You must put in your utmost effort.’ “
