T/N: Before I posted 'I want to protect the OST Jaejoong sang'. The correct line for that would be as stated above. Jaejoong's OST song title is 'I Want To Protect You' or 'Want To Protect You'. Sorry for the confusion ^^;

The members of JYJ are throwing their all into the acting industry.

Park Yoochun has already been recognized for his acting skills with the dramas ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ and ‘Miss Ripley’, and Kim Junsu has been showing off his acting and singing skills in the musical ‘Mozart!’. Kim Jaejoong is the last member of JYJ to debut in the acting industry.

This is Kim Jaejoong’s domestic drama debut but his acting skills have already been tested in a Japanese drama and a movie. In 2009, Kim Jaejoong made his movie debut through ‘Postman to Heaven’ and then confirmed his popularity when he was cast to play a leading role in the Japanese drama ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’.

But as the movie and Japanese drama that Kim Jaejoong appeared in aren’t well-known by the public, the drama ‘Protect the Boss’ can be considered the first real test of Kim Jaejoong’s acting skills.

In ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’, Kim Jaejoong’s acting skills didn’t match up to that of Eita or Ueno Juri, but he received praise for doing well on his first acting role in a foreign language.

But some pointed out that Kim Jaejoong’s handsome face was his acting’s biggest enemy. His beautiful face became a factor against the man who was pretending to be a doctor when he was actually a salesman for medical equipment. Even Ueno Juri, who appeared in the drama with Kim Jaejoong, commented on and was awed by his good looks.

In Kim Jaejoong’s first domestic drama ‘Protect the Boss’ however, it seems that his good looks will help him as he takes on the role of a successor to a conglomerate. Currently, Kim Jaejoong’s acting talents have been praised as ‘stable’ by the veteran actors he works alongside in ‘Protect the Boss’.

That is why many are curious to see if Kim Jaejoong will put aside the awkwardness he showed in ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’ and put on acting that looks completely natural.

As JYJ’s Park Yoochun as already been recognized as a true actor and not just another idol star, Kim Jaejoong’s acting skills will probably be in the spotlight and scrutinized for the entire drama.

Kim Jaejoong has transformed into the prince of the financial world in SBS’ new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Protect the Boss’. He must have quite a burden on his shoulders from the Chaebol craze that began with Hyun Bin in ‘Secret Garden’ as he has to play the role of a perfect man for his drama debut. Added to that pressure is the fact that his fellow team member Park Yoochun played the role of a conglomerate successor in his recent drama ‘Miss Ripley’.

To this, Kim Jaejoong showed his strong determination as he said, “It’s true that I feel pressured about it but I’m working hard to express Cha Mu Won’s special character.

As Kim Jaejoong plays the role of a conglomerate successor, he wears a fitting suit in the drama. He always wore a suit in his previous Japanese drama ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’; the only difference was that in the Japanese drama, he wore flapping suits that made him look like a middle-aged man.

“Isn’t it quite odd? I always end up wearing a suit in my dramas. In the Japanese drama, my role was one of an employee who was a bit of a country bumpkin, so I couldn’t wear anything sophisticated. I always had to wear suits that made me look old. But there was actually another reason behind those suits. I was working out so much back then that I didn’t have any suits that fit (laughter).”

If he was born a successor to a conglomerate, what would Kim Jaejoong be doing in 2011? Kim Jaejoong burst out into laughter as he said, “I would have become a yahoo.” But then, he said he would want to buy a helicopter or a plane if he were a successor to a conglomerate. The reason was simple. It’s because he can’t buy a helicopter or a plane right now.

What kind of person does Kim Jaejoong think Kim Jaejoong is? What kind of person does Kim Jaejoong, who shows a different face every moment and always takes on new challenges, want to become?

I’m someone who is like soybean paste. Warm and inviting. Soybean paste is used for medicine and food, and no matter where you put it, it’s great and doesn’t feel burdensome. Like how the smell of soybean paste is foul, I can be foul at times. On the other hand, there are times when I ‘ferment’ myself like soybean paste that’s been in the crock for the a while. At times, I dissolve issues easily like soybean paste dissolves in water and at other times, I’m stiff and quiet like a block of fermented soybeans. I want to be like the soybean paste in a crock, not greedy, not burdensome and able to fit wherever one goes.“

TVXQ’s follow up song “Before U Go” from their repackaged album “Why (Keep Your Head Down)” and Kim Hyunjoong’s 1st solo mini-album “Break Down” has been deemed harmful to youth. This decision follows the banning of 4minute’s Hyuna “Bubble Pop!” music video and choreography to be too sexually suggestive by the Korea Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee (KCC).

The call that TVXQ’s “Before U Go” music video and Kim Hyunjoong’s track “Please” was inappropriate was by the Ministry of Gender Equality & Family, who has sent a memorandum to broadcasters asking them for their cooperation and to limit broadcasting exposure of said songs. Changmin and Lee Hyun’s (HOMME) “I Was Able To Eat Well” and DJ DOC’s “Tonight” was also designated as hazardous media.

The Ministry of Gender Equality & Family comments that TVXQ’s “Before U Go” music video has a lot of violence in it. The music video features NIS agents with many fight scenes. Kim Hyunjoong’s “Please” involved lyrics that hints towards “drunkness.”

TVXQ’s agency, SM Entertainment said, “We have sent a rebuttal request regarding the decision.”

TVXQ’s “Before U Go” music video was released March 15th, while Kim Hyunjoong’s mini-album was released on June 7th. It has been months since all of the said song has been released.

Kim Jaejoong is cold? Prim? Quiet? If that’s what you thought of him, we ask you to forget that Kim Jaejoong, trapped by the image of an ice prince.

◆Kim Jaejoong is an ice prince? … “Though I may look cold, I have a hidden approachability”

Contrary to his cold and distant appearance, Kim Jaejoong boasts an approachable character and many personal connections. Popular Japanese group W-inds’ Keita and Yamashita Tomohisa, one of Japan’s greatest idols, have both revealed that they are close friends with Kim Jaejoong, bringing their friendships into the spotlight.

When we brought up the fact that Yamashita Tomohisa said, “I want to release an album with Jaejoong,” Kim Jaejoong smiled and said, “It’s just a passing comment. He always says things like that,” and showed off his close friendship with the Japanese celebrity. What interested many was the fact that Kim Jaejoong returned from the ‘Park Ji Sung and Friends’ soccer tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with a new friend, soccer star Jung Tese. The two frequently talk on Twitter and have kept their tight friendship alive till now.

What is the secret to his ‘amazing sociability’? Kim Jaejoong said, “It’s kind of weird for me to call it ‘amazing sociability’, but I think I’m the type of person who has an appearance that most people feel unfamiliar with,” and “If people like me approach others first and we get to know each other, I think we become friends quicker. There are many times when people are surprised because I don’t act the way they expected me to, and we end up talking and becoming friends.“

He smiled and continued to say, “I wouldn’t call it approaching them first, but it’s more like trying to be the first to say hi. There won’t be anyone who will refuse to greet you back if you initiate it first,” and “There have been lots of people who told me that I’m very different from what they thought I would be like.”

◆What is JYJ to Kim Jaejoong? “I live for Junsu and Yoochun”

There are two names that make Kim Jaejoong smile brighter. They are none other than his fellow members Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun. Whenever their names came out during our conversation, Kim Jaejoong tended to smile and laugh more.

Kim Jaejoong is registered as a member of FC MEN, of which Kim Junsu is the captain. But Kim Jajeoong has yet to step foot on the pitch. Regarding this, Kim Jaejoong jested and said, “I participate only in name. The captain put in our names as Yoochun and Jaejoong the soccer players but he’s never once used us in a match.” He burst into laughter after setting an attack on Kim Junsu as he said, “We’re nothing but a promotional strategy.”

At the end of his spell of laughter, Kim Jaejoong said, “But I love Junsu,” putting a sweet end to his tale and showing his affection for his fellow member.

Kim Jaejoong is the oldest of the three members of JYJ. But he depends on his younger members as much as they rely on him. When this interview took place, Kim Jaejoong was suffering hard from the sudden cancellation of JYJ’s appearance on a Jeju special program.

We asked Kim Jaejoong what got him back on his feet when he was worn out, tired and wanted to quit. And this brought us straight back to his members.

“Of course, it’s our members. I think it would have been too hard if I had been walking down this road alone. It’s only possible because I’m with Junsu and Yoochun. We split our pains in three and share our gains equally in three. I want to place great meaning on the fact that we are together, no matter what we do. The same goes with our fans and staff members.“

What do the two members mean to Kim Jaejoong? He wasn’t able to answer this question easily and thought about it for quite a while. After much thought and consideration, he turned the place into a sea of laughter when he parodied a commercial as he stated, “Ah, they’re great. But I can’t think of a way to pinpoint what they mean to me exactly.” When the laughter died out, Kim Jaejoong gave us his sincere confession.

Actually, it’s hard to explain what those two people are in my life because they mean so much to me. Nothing can compare to them. They’re kind of like my arms in a way. You can’t live without both arms, right? Like that, I’m able to live because I have both of them by my side.”

His voice seemed to shake and his throat clammed up as he expressed what he felt about his two younger members, Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun. But soon, Kim Jaejoong found his cheer once more as he discussed the right arm, left arm and body of JYJ.

The name of Kim Jaejoong’s first domestic drama is ‘Protect the Boss’. So what would Kim Jaejoong like to protect?

I want to protect and carry on the relationship that I have with our members right now. And I want to cherish and protect all the music, performances and memories from our debut till now. And I want to keep as many of our fans around as possible (T/N: He’s using the double meaning of the word, which could mean keep or protect, depending on the context. This explains the laughter at the end).(laughter)”

Suddenly, the bus starts moving and the student almost falls over; luckily, Yoochun who has quick reflexes manages to grab hold of her. The two might have locked lips, but the student had quickly placed the bottle of TiO that she was holding onto her mouth.
